Chiba Prefectural Museum of Art


Location: Chiba

The museum collects works by artists who are related to Chiba Prefecture and who are both from domestic and international sources focusing on modern and contemporary art. Especially, it systematically collects works by the artists who are connected with the Prefecture of Chiba such as Chu Asai who participated in a scene as a pioneer of westernstyle painting, his pupils and surrounding artists, and artists such as Hotsuma Katori and Shinobu Tsuda, metalworkers who strove for development in the Japanese modern crafts scene.

Kawamura Memorial DIC Museum of Art


Location: Sakura

The Kawamura Memorial DIC Museum of Art has around 1,000 works of art on permanent display. The collection features artists from around the world and contains a number of iconic pieces in various media. There are regular works on display as temporary exhibits that change throughout the year as well. The museum displays art both by major 20th century artists and lesser known artists. Names that have appeared in the collection include Pablo Picasso, Marc Chagall, René Magritte, Wassily Kandinsky, Mark Rothko, and Frank Stella.

The Hoki Museum


Location: Chiba

The Hoki Museum is Japan's first museum dedicated to Realist painting. Approximately 150 works by around 60 artists are on display at any one time, including 36 paintings that form Japan's largest collection of works by Sousuke Morimoto, and others by artists such as Hiroshi Noda and Tadahiko Nakayama.

Location: Narita

Their collection covers extensive works of Japanese and Chinese calligraphy, from the ancient time to the contemporary and especially the masterpieces from Edo period to contemporary.

Mogi-Honke Museum of Art


Location: Noda

This museum has three thousand several hundred art works in total, including Ukiyoe (Japanese woodblock prints), Japanese paintings, and sculptures. About eighty to ninety art works are regularly displayed, along with several rotating exhibits a year.

SGT Museum


Location: Katsuura

Located on a hill in Katsuura City, SGT Museum opened on July 1st, 2016. It houses a wide range of works from Edo to the modern age, including paintings, ceramics, lacquerware, glassware, and furnishings dedicated to the Imperial Family.
