Okazaki Arisa

Arisa Okazaki, born 1983 in Nagasaki, explores all the techniques of ink painting since her childhood. She studied of course the sumi-e tradition, an exacting discipline that forbids retouching and fixing and where each brush stroke is absolute, final.
She is also interested in the Western aesthetics, especially abstract art, in which she often finds inspiration. Going beyond traditional techniques, she develops a modern style and doesn't hesitate to mix Japanese ink with acrylic paint. Through ink, she endeavours to describe complexe human emotions and some aspects of women's condition in Japan.
Arisa Okazaki takes part in numerous group exhibitions around Japan every year, and has developed a solid collector base in the country.
